Biblical Pain Relief

Maintaining a hopeful, healthy spirit is of upmost importance. When the body is in pain, doing so is challenging. There are a few Bible verses that make it easier. Think of them as codeine for the soul, HA!

You are not alone.
Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. - 1 Peter 5:9-10
Misery loves company. There is an endless supply of support if you look in the proper places. Everyone suffers, both Christians and non-Christians. Thankfully, Christ will restore us.

Suffering is temporary.
That’s why we are not discouraged. No, even if outwardly we are wearing out, inwardly we are being renewed each and every day. This light, temporary nature of our suffering is producing for us an everlasting weight of glory, far beyond any comparison, because we do not look for things that can be seen but for things that cannot be seen. For things that can be seen are temporary... 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
The struggles of this Earth refine character. They are not forever. The pain experienced on the sickest of days is non-existent in Heaven.

Pain draws us closer to Him.
And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. Romans 8:17-18
Christ endured pain while on Earth, much like us. It is impossible to understand the goodness of Heaven when there is a lack of suffering beforehand. This suffering brings about a semblance of reliability, strengthening our relationships with Him.

The above verses do not literally relieve physical pain, but they do provide encouragement and hope on discouraging pain days.
